It’s what you need if you’re just getting started, and one of the greatest parts of this DVD is that he also lets you know what NOT to do, which is a great way to prevent bad habits from starting.

There really aren’t that many fiction films about breakdancing, or fiction films about any street dancing for that matter.
And what’s even more rare are street dance fiction films that aren’t from the US.
Hailing from Taiwan, Chocolate Rap is the story of a breakdancer whose life changes after breaking his leg, taking him off his path of street dance devotion, and how he eventually returns to the dance he loves, changed forever.
I know, I know, this all sounds like it might as well be the next Hollywood breakploitation film, but it’s really cool to see another culture take the raw energy of BBoying and contrast it to a more still and subdued type of film.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of flash in the film, but there’s also a calmness in the non dancing scenes that is really remarkable (fewer “you suckas got served” type moments from OC kids).
Also the breakdancing scene in the low tide beach is really cool looking, and a welcome change from the “dancing in the rain” montage we’re all so used to.
